Today has basically been a day of pure foodie heaven. I have enjoyed some amazing food from the time I woke up this morning until I hit the pillow.
I started off the day with a big green monster knowing that I had a day of good food ahead of me.
My GM contained:
- 1 frozen banana
- 1 cup almond milk
- spinach
- 1 tbsp almond butter
- 1/2 scoop protein powder
This GM turned out much better than the last one. Much thicker now that my ice maker is turned on.
I had a planned lunch with the ladies in my office so it was nice not to pack my food for the day. It really takes a lot of time when you are trying to plan your lunch and snacks when you don’t know how your hunger levels will be. I did bring along an apple and some kiwi to snack on though.
I work with a lot of amazing women! It was so fun to go out to lunch and learn about each others lives outside of the office. We went to Portofinos, a local Italian restaurant in the Charlotte area. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. I ordered the primavera pizza and a glass of merlot. The pizza was amazing.. and an actual Italian style pizza with thin crust, mushrooms, broccoli and spinach with a sprinkle of cheese.
I ate two glorious slices and had the rest boxed up for my man eating trash can AKA my hubby. I didn’t snap any photos at lunch, I think that it would have been inappropriate but I did take a photo of the leftovers AFTER my husband had already stolen a bite, hehe.
It was a light pizza that didn’t weigh me down at all which was great because I had an even greater foodie adventure awaiting me with my foodie friend. Can you tell that I like that word?
When Whitney asked me if I was up for an Indian food night, I squeeled like a teenage girl. We decided to go to Situl and I think I might just become a regular. The service was great, attentive but not overly so and the food… Oh, the FOOD!!! It was too. die. for. So yummy
I will be having lovely Indian food dreams tonight.
We started off with sharing a veggie samosa appetizer.
I am not usually a fan of heavy foods like this but it was filled with cooked vegetables and spices. A pure delight.
For my entree, I ordered the baigan bartha.
Perfectly spiced and tasteful.
Garlic Naan!!! and yet another glass of Merlot.
I am not a fan of rice, so I dipped my warm naan directly into the eggplant goodness. I wouldn’t have it any other way.
I save eating out for special occasions. Today could have ended in overeating and guilt but it did not because I did my best to listen to my body. And although I was eating rich, indulgent foods, I did not feel too full at any time. Moderation is key for me. A taste of that, a few bites here.. and so on. I leave the restaurant feeling satisfied but not stuffed. When I was traveling in Europe for 1 month, I ate out for almost every meal using this concept. I had an amazing trip trying new foods and exploring new places. And I didn’t gain a single pound. Moderation is a beautiful thing.
P.S. I signed up for a formspring’s account, so if you have any thing that you are curious about then ask away! I will be completely open and honest while answering questions. I am brutally honest most of the time anyway
Now, off to have those foodie dreams!! xoxo
